1st Annual Clark Freeport Horse Fest 2009
November 29-30, 2009
El Kabayo Ranch

Excitement for the 2nd Annual Clark Freeport Horse fest in 2010 is already brewing. Everybody just had such a good time . . . why wouldn’t they be?

The parade was participated in by all kinds of horse lovers headed by top Asian equestrienne Mikee Cojuangco- Jaworski and Sen. Miguel Zubiri.  Of course the sheriff of El Kabayo Gabby La’o was ever present.  Guy Hilbero of the horse-mounted 26th Cavalry Regiment of Fort Stotsenberg was on a museum piece 105-year old saddle.  Standouts were the spotted gray Arabian horse and the palomino Tennessee Walker ridden by two real cowboys.

The polo exhibition match was a sight to see. Horses and riders went all out on the historical field. Parade Grounds is no rookie to horses and these polo games.  After all, this wide green field is said to have been discovered by the horses themselves. Horses of the US Army stations in Angeles broke out of their corral for the greener pastures of what eventually became Fort Stotsenberg and later on Clark Air Base.

Teams from Manila Polo Club, Los Tamaraos of Sucat, Davao Horse Club, De Rosa, and Clark El Kabayo had fun in the Gymkhana games.  These are a series of games designed to be light and enjoyable for the riders. Kids and young at heart riders showed off their riding skills in 10 different parlor games-style events.  What made the games more exciting was that the riders were unfamiliar with the horses. These big cuddly animals were all owned by Clark El Kabayo.

Not to be forgotten was the Tillbury Races, exhilarating, fast-paced galloping from the horses in two wheels.

The audience were also treated to basic facts about horses and horse-back riding. A few volunteers were even able to ride and learn first hand handling horses on their own.
